Re: Wanted 3/4y toyota engine
Wanting to put it into your T3??
Oom Terry
If so why not rather go the Golf 2lt motor rout, as its a better engine, more power and lighter, and if sloped will fit into the engine bay without lifting the engine lid.

Original Japanese motors are hens teeth these days, other option are then new Chinese made motors but they don't last as long
If it's too low, you're too old

Yes Herman its got a 3CT diesel runs well but when it comes to sleeping over the egine compartment it stinks of diesel thats only if you have a fuel leak some where. After spending 40 odd yrs as a diesel mechanic I dont like taking the work to bed with me. I got diesel in my veins thats enough.

No Terry, that's a hideous choice of engine.
I assume this is in a German T3 without the raised engine platform? Best go back to 2.1i WBX for best power/torque and to remove the raised platform. You can go also go with the tilted Golf motor, but torque is crap.

Totally agree with you Oom Terry, would also not go Diesel, due to the smell. You would need a compact engine so it will not raise the lid, the Golf motor is the to favorite but there are other cheaper motors to be had.Terry Phillips wrote: Thu Nov 07, 2019 11:55 am Yes Herman its got a 3CT diesel runs well but when it comes to sleeping over the egine compartment it stinks of diesel thats only if you have a fuel leak some where. Try http://www.japeuro.co.za/ they have a large range and their prices are not bad.
But why not take a challenge and go electric, the next bus I will do will definitely be electric.
Take care
