Been saving up on this project as I mentioned for 2 years and buying,swopping,bartering for parts

And main thing was getting the balls in the Bag to start with this project

I must Admit that the Gutter problem really was a headache for me as I had 6 different ways I could tackle that
But the more labor intensive way was really the correct way to do it right

So all though this do not look Pretty

I decided to weld these braces in for additional rib support as it will be behind the upholstery panels

Did not take pics but started to modify a towbar that was previously modified a bug to work under the rear Bumper

I need to be able to tow my Tiptow trailer
Or even Bloodhound on the Car trailer going racing

What motor will be pushing all this and a trailer?

When I purchased the Bus it Actually had a Rover V8 motor in but was not Prepared to Battle with SU Carbs.

My First Choice of Motor was a 2.4 L Type 4 but I Sold the Motor to Fund other Projects

So other Obvious motor Choice that Vdubtech have Perfected is the 2L Golf motor With Belly mount Hidden Radiator.
The Advantage of this motor is that I am using the Std Power Steering Pump to Operate the Power Steering Rack up Front

Now this Power Steering Rack was one Hell Of a mission to sort out. I bought it from a 3de Party as "NEW" .
after installation as motor installation was done before I stripped the Bus to start with the Body.I had endless issues
With oil Pushing out the seals.

Had the Power steering Expert here to investigate if we did not had the pipes the Wrong way but was informed the Rack is not new and
Had to be stripped to investigate.

After Tear down I was informed the rack was old and the Chrome shaft was Rusted badly and needed full Reconditioning.

Received the Rack back and installed the Power steering Rack and Whalla it was Working.

The reason I wanted Power steering was because the Longer Wheel base that I or who Ever will be driving the Bus do not have to go to
Gym to Drive. Steering is nice but the Turning angles not nice so going to have to Work on that.

Also the Golf motor will be running a 3Vent and 6 Rear mounted AC Evaporators in the Bus.

And eventually cut the hole for the electric ragtop

Plan was to install 2 of them but desided against it

Vdubtech have used these Electric Rag tops before and it is quite a nice fit for the Bus shape roof and fit nice

Both Seat brackets made up and the Inertia seatbelts brackets

Also made special small plates that the Seatbelt bolts are welded to
Then counter sunk in body and then the plate welded to body for additional strength

I sourced single adjustable seats as I needed to fit them as low as possible
To be able to have a nice driving experience
And if need be to be able to get to the back without getting out of the Bus

Have you tried power steering on Noah, may be too light to be safe.

I have got an Opel Corsa electric power steering that I wanted to fit with the Opel rack&pinion steering

but on test it was so light that I would be making accidents, took it out again.

The last thing you want on a long bus is very light steering, and you have not any weight up front.

Yes I always say we had the Best Military in the World at one stage and everything was made here in SA so do not tell me it is not Possible to Do
but the Biggest Problem is sometimes my Tongue is sore from Arse licking to get something done



Love to see problem solving in an otherwise impossible build.


I was tough by myself to Improvise early days as there were not money to buy things



Have you tried power steering on Noah, may be too light to be safe.

There is Power Steering system installed that I bought From a supplier that Gave me the Runarounds like you can not believe
I think I did mention in Earlier Posts it was Bought as new and ended up to be a Rusted Piece of shit but might Remove it as im not happy
with the Shit Turning Circle

There are a few other options I am looking at to Upgrade

There will be Weight on the Front once loaded and empty

But once all is done the steering system could be sorted afterwards

As the bus is built in 1958 no seatbelt attachment bolts

I made small plates with the seatbelt nut welded to 1 side

Used a hole saw to make a hole in the Body big enough for the nut to enter

Then the flat side of the Plate is welded to the Body that is much stronger than just welding a nut to the Body to attach the seatbelts to

Looking good Pierre. Lots of metalwork and bracing going on there. It made me think back to 2010 when forum member CooP tried to extend his baywindow westfalia. He called it the marigold project. I wonder what happened to that project. I know he was based in Roodepoort

So yesterday the Limo was Locked and Loaded on the Trailer and Deliverd to my Panel beater to do more bracing and final Prep and Paint to Noah
