Good Evening All
I am completely new to the forum, and to Vw Beetles
I have been reading the forum for quite a while, and there are some very helpful comments and guys assisting. I purchased a beetle that needs a lot of work, and I quite like beetles. I want to Build a track day car / fast road car for myself, and can do a few things mechanicaly. The car was standing for 6 years, and has no papers. Little bits of rust on the roof, but the chassis is good and the rest of the car isnt rusted either (very good condition for its age)
I have a 1600 Twin Port (I think). The motor seems to be seized up (haven't tried doctoring it yet) gearbox seems good and there are no brakes!
I have a budget of R25000 (no much but it's what I have) to make it go sub 19's at zwartkops. I have been speaking to a few people (Peet in PE) regarding and engine swop to a 1.8 8v, disk brake conversions. To overhual the beetle engine seems way to much, and little power gain VS the 1.8
Any advise you guys perhaps have on my little project?
Thank you

You’ll need to do a bit of work tightening up and lowering the suspension.
I really doubt you will get where you want to be with 25k

Thank you for the reply Guys
I'll try and locate him, and ask for assistance.
TonyZ I started realising this when Gilo quoted me R4400 for the conversion kit, and R2200 for the clutch (Wow) I guess I'll have to build this in phases then, poly bushes can wait!
