I am sure this topic has been addressed over the years as this is not a new modification, I would like to fit Golf MK1 (Citi Golf)
sealed beams into 60's style old headlights.
Any advise, tips, links to old posts will be greatly appreciated
Thank You !

Re: 60's Beetle headlight upgrade
Sorry for the delay in reply, but here is what I did;-
You have two ways to do it, one is to fit the Golf lamp with its adjuster ring(comes with when you buy it)
You make small L brackets and pop rivet it to the side of the angled shield in your old light once you have removed the reflector, then you pop rivet the small leg onto the adjuster ring of the golf light.
Now you can set the light with the golf adjusters. Fill the old adjustment screw holes with a plated screw and nut at the back to close the unused holes.
The second way is to remove the old reflector, and make brackets to mount onto the sealed beam glass backing after you have removed the Golf adjuster ring. The two adjuster arms of your old reflector now have to be fitted to the Golf Glass backing plate so you can adjust the lights with the old adjustment screws.
Hope this helps.
