Hi Everyone.
I need some advice please. We have been using the buggy for a few weeks now and in that time the cable has popped off the pedal a few times in the tunnel....
Sometimes popping the clutch a bit to quickly leads to that.
Is there a way to set the peddle up so that it can't come back far enough for the cable to come off? How do you guys handle this setup?
Thanks as always.
Keith

Re: Clutch Pedal on 72 Beetle/buggy
Have you installed the stopper plate in the new floorpan that prevents the pedals from coming too far forward?

Thank you. No I definitely don't have that and was going to ask about the break pedal as well....
Will try to get the stop...
Anyone have a picture of how it's installed?

Re: Clutch Pedal on 72 Beetle/buggy
So. I tried to get the plate to stop the pedals from falling forwards and there was no stock...
So last night I took a piece of c-channel, trimmed it and slotted it and then fitted it.
Took an hour but now the pedals looks and work much better and it answered so many questions about the pedal assembly and setup on a beetle type 1 for me...
I also managed to correctly adjust the break pedal.
Thanks again for the help guys.

some people also recommend using a cable tie to hold the eye to the hook

It's also important to properly unwind the cable before installation, so as to avoid it being under rotational tension and helping the eye slip off the hook. Clutch cable should be adjusted so there is 2cm of play at the pedal.
