Hello,
I have a '75 T2 Camper (panel van). The 2l engine has a fairly bad oil leak. I don't want to throw more money at the local garage - their mechanics don't really seem to care/know what to do. Can anyone recommend a VW mechanic who knows T2s, perhaps can overhaul the engine even if needed?
We're based on the West Coast, so ideally around Darling/Langebaan or Cape Town area - don't really trust it to drive further currently.
much appreciated,
Stefan

I recently rebuilt a 2L for a customer. The parts are getting very hard to find and expensive, but it is possible to do.
Where is the oil leak and why cant they fix it?

Re: Mechanic for '75 T2 needed (WC)
Hey Tony, sorry for the late reply, I was on holiday.
I'm not 100% where the leak is coming from. The previous mechanic thought it was the old oil pump and removed it, but that hasn't solved the issue (rather made it worse). I'm limited with available mechanics in the area (only 1 in Darling) and I guess they aren't really interest in spending any time in properly investigating as they are busy.

there are plenty places that these engines can leak from and unfortunately not many people know them anymore.
