Chris here, new member - I do NOT own a VW (any more!) b-u-t I have joined this Forum since my interest is in the tool trolley side of VW (so Hazet) (and Porsche, etc), as well as the tool cabinets, and then the ALBOY under-seat emergency fuel cans, as well as Eversure Fillacan, etc.

Currently looking for a Hazet STOOL - the small 3-legged stool that fits in the early trolleys, such as the 160 & 161, etc.
Cheers!
Chris

Hello to all - Richard Grotz here from Sandton, Johannesburg - a noob to this site.

My first ever car was a 1967 VW Beetle and from that point on, my love/hate relationship with these air-cooled beasts was forged!

My father and I now inherited a 1977 VW T2 camper van from my uncle - it was a mine ambulance that was later converted to a camper van. Many engine replacement and miles later it is now ours....

Any recommendations for quality yet affordable repairers in my vacinity? I want to have the ball joints replaced (I have new Meyle parts from Volkspares)?

Cheers
Richard

Hi Guys
Started the big strip on the 1972 South African beetle shell is away to paint shop and i am busy with the tub and engine rebuilds.
Some interesting facts stripped the motor and was educating my son on some engine measurements and the top ring gap was +5mm i could not believe this 1300 would still run but it ran faithfully till 2016 when it was parked in a shed on the family farm.
Now 2 years down found a decent panel beater who did a total strip and old school repair with lead really cool to see. this is where it is now chassis is done ,engine rebuilt and body primed

Welcome. Enjoy the project.
I've also had ring gaps like that. Usually when someone installs the wrong size rings.

Hi guys, been the owner of a 1978 SA T2 for a couple of years now, it was imported into the UK in 2015 Reg number CL 48932, would be great if any old SA owners are on the forum and share some pics of its life in South Africa, and where it was originally registered suppling dealer and where it lived while with you guys, I have receipts for Stalenbosch and Parklands, but no owner details, I'm trying to keep as much of its South African heritage as possible, the reflectors front and rear, I've managed to get a SA AA badge, would love to get some more reg plates made up for show events, and if possible window sticker of the suppling dealer of 1978 vintage.

Good morning All

My name is Paul and I own a 1972 1600 VW Beetle (ex SA) when I get time which isn't often I am trying to get her back to a good reliable running car. The plan which is a moving feast due to other commitments is mostly cosmetic with an interior refit, alloys because I like alloys maybe lowering a little 2" maybe but to replace the 1600 with either a 1900 or 2100 naturally aspirated, maybe injected.

Would certainly be keen to speak to former owner.
