Do not know what arrangement you have on the main drive on the crank, but I have had the situation where the key of this pulley broke. It was cast into the pulley and is made front soft pewter like material. As a result the valve timing was off. I was battling to get the car to run until the pulley moved again and I lost compression. Then it was easy easy to spot the problem. I think this may be more likely cause, than a belt jumping a tooth or two.

Another bit of news is that there is a new dyno in Tokia owned by Mace Service Centre. 082 7884531.

HI Ryss

No this one realy jump as tooth, if you did see the condition of the belt you would have agreed, about 15 teeth were gone on it, that was a origenal VW factory fitted belt and the engine had just over 240 thousend on the clock.

Excuse the possibly daft question, but aren't cars tuned for their location?

ie: a Dyno'd car on the highveld will react differently to one at the coast?

Yes Nic it does, what the guys does is they know what is the settings +/- for the coast , so they set there equipment and have some factors to play with, but the thing is i am not at the coast aswell, I am half way between the coast and the highveld
