and then you twist the body.... You may as well use the engine hanger setup, with a square tube mounted under the rear end (oil pump side) of the engine and the tube bolted to the bumper mountsvader wrote:there is a gearbox brace that you can make at home if you can weld and use a ruler and a drill. its made out of square tubing and bolts onto the forks and then up under the dogbox and then another brace is bolted inside the car where it comes threw the floor and onto the wheel arcs. This strengthens the gearbox on the forks and stops the twisting motion induced by torque of the engine. It's cheap, it work really well and you can do it in one afternoon..... Well for MTM maybe two!

New from CB. Chrome. Has all of it's mounting hardware.
My bug's getting a gearbox midmount and Bugpack KCB.

Hp is how fast you hit the wall, and Torque is how far you take the wall with you."

A stock beetle box is stronger than you think... I've been running my box for about four years now without any problems. Previous engine made 95kw on the wheels and I drove like a hooigan... dougnuts burnouts etc
