Bicycle frame restoration?

Does anyone know about someone in the Gauteng area that does a professional job in cleaning and respraying an aluminium bicycle frame? (Apply decals, clear coat etc.)

Got an old 'Dale a while ago and want it ORANGE!

(No snotty comments from Merlin w.r.t this thread will be tolerated, since my 'Dale is almost older than his Fleetline. Some respect will be appreciated, please

My dad's got a Diamon Back which used to be pimpin', but has been hung up for a decade...he swears he'll ride it again.

I want to gusset it and build a jumper.

There is a company that specializes, but I forget it's name...go on to the forums at thehubsa.co.za and ask them.

I have an early '70s racer from my late G' dad that is stripped an awaiting resto.

I think you'll need to order the decals from 'dale...$$$.

Saw one in a Pretoria pawn shop last year for R250-00 and didn't take it

I had a red Bridgestone MTB, which I bought new at Beachbreak in PE in 1990. Replaced by a sponsored Diamond Back Apex in 1992, and I then completely rebuilt the Bridgestone with new components and gave it to my Dad. He then later passed it on to my brother who used it a few years while studying in Stellenbosch, and it now belongs to his fiancee. My brother and his wife-2-be did the Argus earlier this year, and she was stopped at least 3 times by 'collectors' (exporters?) who wanted to buy the Bridgestone from her on the spot!

That's a new one to me...being stopped for collection purposes.

On mine, I just keep my pace up...the bike's too tempting to some of the locals...and I've lost one already - and nearly my neck in the process.

In the late 80s, there were thousands of Peugeot-labeled plain carbon steel 'racers' built and sold by Western Flyer. Not the real thing. If you can find a Peugeot racing frame with a small Reynolds 525, 531, 653 or 753 (I think) sticker on, you've got a gem. Old aluminum and carbon fibre Peugeot frames were also available in SA a decade or more ago.

Stay away from those Peugeot 'Rapport' or 'Le Mans' racers.

Does Beachbreak in PE still exist? That was the ultimate COOL

surfing/scuba/MTB shop EVER. Remember that graffiti one used to scribble on your school case? My friends all had AC/DC, Def Leppard, Iron Maiden, Guns 'n Roses etc on. Mine read: Colnago, Bianchi, Columbus, Cannondale, Gary Fisher, Shimano, Campagnolo, Oakley, Look and BEACHBREAK!

I'm also looking into buying a decent MTB bike for some fun around a quarry that's around the corner from me

Any suggestions as to the best MTB to buy?

I have a carbon fibre Peugeot frame one of the first Peugeot carbon bikes made, I converted it to a TT bike and only rode it once, hanging in my garage gathering dust. Also have a Peugeot ally road bike that has been resprayed to look like a carrera, Pine I will dig out the Tel. for the dude who resprays bikes, he did the bike mentioned or you can phone Westdene cycles speak to Fareed I'm sure he has the # as well, the painter makes decals for the bikes as well.
