Where in SA can I buy NACA ducts from?

I have seen a very cool idea which I would like to replicate on the Fasty

If you don't find them, make them!!
Use technique called hammerforming - very basically you create either a male or female of the shape you want (Supawood is fine if you aren't going into production) Then you place your metal over it, clamp another piece of wood to hold the areas flat that must stay flat, and work the metal down with a....... hammer - hence the name

. There is a little more to it, but it is a very straightforward process.
If you want some help on this I'll be happy to give it a go. Give me some idea of dimensions etc. Even better, come join me for a weekend "open house" that I hope to hold sometime early next year and learn how to do it yourself!!

Hey Barry,

Wouldnt it be easier to form on your English wheel? I would think so. The other (maybe easier option for BB), is to make the make the plug with Supawood, and them make the male with Fibreglass. The obvious difference between that and a commercially available one would be that yours would not be transparent plastic. But then again, your newly created Ducts cant be color coded to the car(paint)

PS. I also still stick with the idea of fibreglass. MUCH easier! And besides, it will be under your car, so looks(transparency) wont be necessary.

Bob it was something developed for aeroplane applications that will allows air into a duct without interrupting the airflow on the outside surface - it is recessed into the flat panel, rather than having a scoop. I don't have any pics handy, but do have a full photo sequence in a metalshaping book somewhere.
As to doing it from GRP, to each his own, but I find working with metal easier, not to mention the smell, dust, stickiness everywhere, itching etc. (I work with polyester resin and glass everyday and sure as hell don't want to bring the stuff home too.

By the time you have prepared the plug for moulding (and hopefully releasing

) you could have hammered out 10 of these from ally.
This would really make a good first time project for a beginner.
Get those specs Ilyaaz and we'll take it from there if you're game.

I was thinking of doing some NACA ductwork on the louvres in the rear fenders, but decided against it...

Going to contact Barry sometime soon for more information...
