Polishing your chrome with Auto Sol will no doubt have the ladies wanting to polish too, probably your knob.

I used it on my rims and daaamn, my bug is now officially The Bling Bug.

Approx. R.40 and worth every cent.

I also use Autosol. A few years ago, it was only available at the BMW Parts Division in Bloemfontein at R 110 a tube, in a 'BMW Genuine Parts' box...

Try Builder's Warehouse, a glass/brass shop, or a spares shop.
