I'm hunting around for rims for my 13BT bug and so far I like the look and cost of VR6 rims the most.

I find most of the modern, after market rims too sporty or gaudy and want to go for a neat and understated look.
The only problem is that my disc conversion setup is 4x100 PCD and not 5x100 PCD so unless I buy new hubs I don't think it will be possible to use the VR6 rims.

Of course the ideal would be Porsche rims like these but I doubt I'd like the price tag.

If I did go for a more sporty look I'd use something like this but it only comes in 17" and not 15".

If I was trying to find a good catalogue of rims where would be the place to look?
I looked on TSW's online product list and they don't show half variety of their rims that I've seen on cars.

We have a place in CT called"Koenigs" (spelling) who are big on rims. Maybe you have one where you are, or I can get you details from here.

BTW : What's the max size rim one can use on a Beetle without running into problems?
Are 17" rims too big? Width wise I supposed one can get them narrowed to 6 or 7 inches.

I saw an advert for these 17" rims which the poster called "Porsche A-Line".
Are they replicas?

The VR6 rims look sweet on any '68+ Bug :D

I'm sure that it would be easy to have your hubs re-drilled to 5x100 PCD

Those A Line wheels are Porsche Twist replicas, they are also 5x100 front wheel drive offset, so they would tuck up nicely under the arches of the Bug...

My first choice would be the VR6 wheels, 15 inch tyres are cheap and easy to replace after you donut :twisted:

I'm not so sure. I drew the layout in qcad and it doesn't matter how I laid out the 5x100 PCD one of the bolt holes always hits the edge of a 4x100 PCD hole. Minor details - I'll sort it out somehow.

Thanks - that helps if I want to ask for them but I'll only consider it if they have a 15" version.

You can get those VR6 wheels very cheaply :wink:

I've only seen those A-Line Porsche Wheels in 17 and 18 inch. No 15" I'm afraid :cry:

No we don't. It's the reason your wheels are being stolen...

I'd like to get them above the board thanks. :D
Seems that a set of used ones normally go for about R3000-R5000 depending on whether they have tyres or not.

If you look hard enough, you can get a set for R2000-00 with no tyres :wink:

On http://www.vwclub.co.za/vwforum there were quite a few sets being sold recently for R2000-00 - R4000-000

Yeah I spotted some of those BBS rims on Gumtree but they were posted quite a while ago.

HAve you actually tried working WITH one of the existing holes? I am sure that is how it is done, seeing that the PCD you want to use is the same!

I looked into this once before.... you always end up with one hole that crosses another or is too close to offer support when you tighten up the bolts....

Weld up and machine is the best option, but you might get a slight warp.
