Mounts and bearings...and bushings...

Post by Merlin »

Hi all,

The clutch release bearing [ :?: ] on the Fleetie is going, and I suspect my long-time shifting woes are worn mounts.

Are the bearing and mounts [bus :!: ] available in ZA, or do I need to order?

Bearing...

Front mount...

Rear mount...

...and then, which of these is correct for '67 buses, and which for Fleetlines? Do they use the same, or different ones?

Thanks, N.

Helloooo daaa Nick!
Best way is to pull the motor and check what thrust brg it has - Its a choice of two.
the mounts are also readily available
Unless you have mounts that are sheared completely , they wouldn't be part of your shifting problem

Chat sometime !

Hey Bill,

Damn...puts the bus out of action for a while in that case. :(

Will have to do it in JAN...the courier charges are still "festive season".

Bus mounts, in ZA? :o

I'm going to bring in a packet full of gear rod bushings, and probably a spare set of mounts just in case. A coupler I can get here. :)

Thanks, N.

OK, is this a symptom of a dodg' thrust bearing or am I wrong with this thread?

Crawling out of the business park in the afternoon I hear it often, second gear is what I'm in, but I have heard this noise in 3rd. May affect all 4, but I can't say for sure.

If I lift off of the accelerator it makes a slight whirring sound for a second or two, and then disappears when you hit the pedal again.

I tried doing that coming up my driveway this evening, three times [long driveway  ], but didn't get the sound.

Is it the bearing?

Thanks, N.
