Re: suicyde engine - lots of pics, slow connections beware

Post by Tony Z »

Well I am slowly getting amped to attempt to get this engine running on the road. I'll be back in SA in 2 weeks and back in CPT around the 13 Feb. Thats actually the same day I got the car way back in 1997.
Get the license renewed and get the engine finished. Lets see if the gearbox lasts with the copper clutch...

Well then we`ll just have to build you a nice one then
As long no wheel hop should take Quite alot of punish ment

Also helped John strip his box last weekend to see what he broke
(Type 4 2.3 twinspark with Clutch masters 288mm 6Puck with 1.5times harder Pressure plate With KAFER CUP Brace)

Stripped R&P(4.125) Knew it Would not last long
Got him a 3.88 now and now looking at manufacturing 3de and 4th lokally and just bring 1+2 mainshaft from the states
Coz for the n/a air cooled motors that rev high we need short ratios

Hey Tony Z,

Have you guys heard off Siamese-ing the inlet ports as well as the inlet manifolds???

Apparently some guys believe in it down here in Durban - used to do in in the old Formula V racing days...

Any comments??

Great pics and good luck with the engine build... Wish I had all the technical expertise to be able to do my own thing... :(

Shot, take care...

Hey TonyZ

What on earth is that shiny stuff you have painted on your piston sleeves???

It looks wicked and would be a bonus if it stayed on during heated operation...yes??

Let me know..

Nice motor brother. Whats the black paint that you put on the barrels?? Is it heat resistant or will it disappear once you have the motor running??

Happy building man...

Thats not paint, thats a ceramic thermal dispersant.
