Re: subaru engine in a speedster
Ouch, sounds like your joyride ended with a small electrical problem where the conrod took off the alternator.

Re: subaru engine in a speedster
I picked up the car on Friday afternoon. The cooling issues have been sorted out. The water temps stays at 95degrees C wether I drive hard or gentle, fast or slow. I have ordered an oill cooler which will probably drop the tmps by another couple of degrees and when the fibreglass shroud is installed with 2 x 10" fans it shoud drop down to below 90degrees.
I spent the betterpart of Saturday morning washing and polishing the car and it looks awesome. It only takes half an excuse to go out and just cruise with it.
One cruise was very sitisfying, I turned of the Ben schoeman at the fountains turn of and found myself at the lights next to a new BMW M5 V10. I was turning right from the left hand lane. When the lights changed I pulled of reasonably quick (off boost) about half way through the turn I thought to myself that if I go the BMW will also go, Now my revs were at about 4000rpm on boost when I floored the throtle, emmediatly the BMW did the same, I think he had the thought in his mind that this little blackcar needs to be tought a lesson, mistake! big mistake, my car took of, I emmediatly had to change to second, the dump valve gave a large woof (or bark!) through second gear the speedster pulled aggresivly away from the BMW. I have to say the sound of the big V10 revving like crazy behind was tremendous! The bend to the right just before the bridge was approaching so at the red line (7000 screaming rpms) I dropped the car into third andbacked of. The BMW of course then came flying past, what a rush!

Re: subaru engine in a speedster
Thanks flatfourfan. I am installing the brakes next week and the wheels goon at the same time. I am fitting TSW splits onto it with a 225/40-18 tyre. The fit is going to be very very tight! I have made temporary spacers which we will use to determine the exact spacer thickness. fortunatly the business parkhas some pretty large speed bumps touse to checkthe clearances. As soon as the wheels are on I will post pics. By the way I am fitting 305mm ventilated disks up front with porsche 4 pot calipers (bright red) and golf mk2 rear calipers and solid disks. The next job will be to fit the front anti roll bar and a custom Z bar to the rear. This should make the car stop and handle in a manner appropriate to the performance.
The motor is so sweeeeeet!

I am still running my Z baron my bug that is for corners and the squat bar is that the weels dont tuck in under the fenders when you pull away and when you drive it is like Hevy duty coil over shocks keeps the arse from bumping on the road on very bumpy roads fits under the gearbox and straps over the side shaftsblack speedster wrote:hey bugger,

thanks bugger
what do you want for your squat bar, is it home made or a bought item, does it bolt to the gearbox. Where do you hail from?
