Hi.
My name is Nico.
I stumbled onto your site while surfing the net, dodging work. I was introduced to the beetle bug by my wife who luckily for me also loves everything VW.
I have owned several VW's a 92 golf 2 GTi (Cindy) that was sold as she was just getting too expensive to maintain. After Cindy I bought a Citi golf Life (Maya) that I was relieved of by thieving bastards. I then bought another Citi golf Life (Zoe) and was also relieved of her about 2 weeks ago. By some more thieving bastards. I'm thinking of buying a beetle next. But that's still in the works.
I still have my pride and joy however. A Porsche Speedster replica (Lucy). She has a 1600 twin port beetle engine. And is simply a joy to drive, although I don't drive her nearly enough. Especially with all the rain in JHB of late.
Anyway I am looking forward to chatting to fellow VW nuts.
Great site.
Nico.

Hi guys.
I've never really introduced myself here....
I'm Louis
I live in Centurion and work in Jet Park. I'm the manager of Gotech engine management systems (thus my activar below). Gotech is owned by the same persons that ownes Volkspares (Joe Katic and Ivan Williams).
Whell as you see in my activar I'm a beetle race fanatic... my race beetle is currently in process of getting a engine transplant (2200cc type 1 with throttle bodies), my oval track midget is powered by a type 4 and the polo is std except for 17" wheels and a dropped suspension.

Oh and the latest VW to our family is a late model VW microbus (bakkie). This one was a little butched by the previous owner, the air cooled vw engine has been removed and a ford v6 is now powering this one.
The microbus will be used to tow the race car and carry all the tools

To answer your question Tony Z: Here the government expects you to take a Chinese name for ID purposes. It has to fit into the standard 3 character format for Chinese names. My name, officially is Wei Nan-de...Wei being the family name and Nan-de (literally meaning South German) is the "given" name. I find that the adults generally have a problem pronouncing "Wynand", but my students have no problem with "Mr Wynand." Although I've been called Mr Nana and Mr Panda, too!
