I bought a new LG radio with 2x 6x9 and 2x 4" speakers for R1179 the other day from HiFi Corp. It takes USB flash drive and the sound is absolutely awesome in the DC. I wanted to add a sub, but the sound is so good I think I might skip the sub. With the flash drive no more skipping when off roading. The newer model with Bluetooth for cellphone etc was available from Autostyle at about the same price.
Had a FM modulator before, but the reception wasn't that great all the time.
The only substitute for cubic inches are more cubic inches.
Well, there is your problem right there... you wrote it loud and clear.... Hifi Corp.
I know its easy to say, but you get what you pay for. The cheaper headunits do have a problem with skipping over bumps. The more you pay the better the shock absorbtion in the the unit itself.
My Alpine does not skip at all. Its 13 years old now and my suspension isnt what you would call comfortable. If it skips, you usually have a few crushed vertibrae, bite your tongue and get out to check for mag and tyre damage. But then again, this is (was and still is) one of Alpines best ever headunits. Do you have crossovers for your 4" mids? Small caps mounted on the side of them maybe? If not, you are asking a lot from them.

I have to agree with you, normally the stuff you buy from HiFi gives problems and I swore I wouldn't buy from them again. To be honest I haven't used the cd player that much. Much easier with the flash disk, but the LG seems to be quite good. I'm also an Alpine fan, maybe next time...

I think you got a dud. Had a few Jvc's. No problems. I've even had a Diamond from Hi-fi Corp with no problems, and thats cheap shit. By the way, I do fibreglass interriors for Beetles.
