ENGINE NOISE

Post by virek »

Morning ppl, hope you all had a great weekend

There is a very loud noise coming from the front pulley. Especially when she is idling or at low rpm's. Once I rev her up abit the noise is gone. Left the car at the mech this morning as it seems to be getting louder :( hope its nothing serious :(

The alternator belt also jumped off this morning :x

Any ideas what it could be?

Thanks

could be a bearing in the alt running rough.... run it (not for long) without the belt and seee if the noise goes away. if it does , its the alt bearings.

 Sorry I forgot to mention I already did that.

Thanks brian, what else could it be? I checked the covers for loose nuts and bolts. The box is tight.

crank pulley grinding against the case.... this apparently is quite common.
if its coming from inside, its bad news....

Just called the mech for some feeddback, he dropped the motor and says the covers on the back were loose and rubbing against the engine :?

I find that hard to believe. If its coming from the inside, what is the solution?

Thanks

Got my baby back last night :D Sounding healthy again. Eventually was the engine covers :hangloose:

While the motor was out, had him fit a new engine rubber as well. Doesn't look to neat tho, have to finish it up myself.
