Single cab

Post by kaspaas »

Recently bought this single cab pickup in Bredasdorp. Currently undergoing mechanical restoration at my friend's workshop in JBay. It was standing for a few years, so there is quite a bit of work. There is some rust, but it is mostly cosmetical. What made be buy the car was the fact that there was no serious structural rust and the floors and underside was solid. The worst rust is just below the windscreen. It is fitted with twinport twincarb 1600 motor and I was surprised to see it is fitted with front disc brakes.

Still deciding what to do with it after the resto... Would love to keep it as the pick ups are so practical and I have developed a soft spot for them, but I dont really have the space to properly store it. I've also spent more money than I will be able to recoup, but at least I've saved it from the scrapyard. And if I have to sell it I will still have the satisfaction of seeing another one on the road... Will keep you posted on what happens!

Regards,
D

we just bought one too! Looks almost exactly the same. I absolutely love her! I cant help but grin and smile when I see her- she is just so awesome! As well as really useful! We are having a problem with the battery/generator. Does yours have an alternator or a generator? and are you experiencing the same problems? I think ours is a little older than yours because our indicators are different? I want to upload our pics too but I think im a bit dense:-( LOL because I have only managed to frustrate myself. Cant wait to see yous when its complete! We can do a comparison!! He he he.

Nice project :D

I saw it for sale on Gumtree a while back.

It said it came with a Kombi panelvan for spares.

Did you manage to selvage anything off the panelvan body?
