Re: New Members - Introduce yourself..
Hi Everyone
Been to visit the forum a fair few times, but never had time to register etc.
I come from a all VW family. We used to own a 65 1200 that saved our family when there were hard times. She did duty for close to 20 years with us(my dad bought her and had to fix her after standing for a few years), but later we had to sell her because she was not being used and was rusting up, and we didn't have money to restore her. Sold it to a guy that looked very poor, and we thought that we were doing him a favour and passing on the "goodwill" of this little angel that we had when we were experiencing tough time. Few day later I saw her with a for sale sign for more then double the money we sold her for
Anyway, 10 years on and I am driving VW's and racing little Locosts(Lotus 7 replicas - http://www.locost.co.za ) but feel the need for a Kombi. Now I have seen a restored Kombi in a couple of overseas magazines I used to buy, can't remember the names, but I guess you guys will know, and since then I have had the dream of owning a "split nose" Kombi. Please excuse the fact that I don't know the specific terms like split window, Westy etc.
I just started planning (and budgeting
) for getting such a Kombi. Don't mind about getting a split window one, but want one that has the "split" in the nose, so if anyone knows of a good ones coming up for sale, let me know
Me and the wife would love to do the long weekend thing with such a beauty.

Hehe, thanx Guys. I'm sure I won't confuse who to give love to. I am sure the Kombi will demand as much attention as the Locosts do

Re: New Members - Introduce yourself..
Hello guys
I've never introduced myself here before, yet I give all the newbies flack
My name is Ilyaas.
I'm a 19 year old student from Pretoria, with a huge penchant for these quirky aircooled cars.
Currently, I own 2 Volkswagens,a '67 and '68 Fastback...
The '67 is a long term project, the '68 should be running by the end of the month, wish me luck
I hate exporters, we have lost too much valuable ZA metal to these "innocent businessmen"
Anyway, catch all you guys on the forum!
Regards,
Ilyaas
