He helped me with replacing a leaking pushrod tube. Some of you might know that I spent more than a fair amount on a engine rebuild for this project. They used by old pushrod tubes and the one that was replaced was so loose you could move it around by hand. It also had the wrong sparkplugs and there was no gap on the tappets. I am realy dissapointed. I start questioning the quality of engine.

I've been visiting Werner Alker today and he helped me with a few things on my Ghia.

Re: 59 Ghia
Not a nice thing to happen.
Although there are A fair amount of good engine builders around, if one is getting a special engine built , especially when there is no cap on the price, ( thats if you are not using a really reputable builder), it pays to check out the parties involved that are doing the engineering work, the assembly , and the quality of the parts going into the motor. If its a complete engine, insist that it is bench run before you take it away and pay for it. And have lots of photos taken during the building process, for your project album
And if one has supplied parts like new heads, cranks, cases, and cams, -- be sure to stipulate that the builder keeping the "old" parts is not part of the deal. GET THEM BACK --- you never know when you will need them , if not for yourself, then for someone that might be desperate for them.
Cheers
Bill

I also ask for all of the odl parts to be returned to me. Man that sucks about rteh rebuild, any chance of going back to the guy with your woes?
Nice car, I love it. Who's going to be doing the re-chroming on the bumpers?

Re: 59 Ghia
You think the bumpers needs re-chroming?
Don't know yet. I hear horror stories about companies loosing bumper pieces or destroying bumpers and saying it was unusable. Do you know of anyone that is trustworthy?
Rims and tyres. How does it look?

Re: 59 Ghia
At the moment I've got a frustrating job to sort out a short in the wacky wiring, sticky gearbox, wobbly windowscrapers, silly solinoid to name a few. Not something nice to report to the forum.
