54 Beetle tail lights

What lights were on them. Same as 57 or different, got old big fuel tank different from 57 and doors(rib?) also different from 57.

I'm not an expert on Beetle changes, but I think 54 had the same taillights as 57. 53 Beetles had the "heart" taillights, with the brake light under the heart-shaped leens on top of the light housing. However, I may be wrong and the heart lights were still in use on 54s.

It seems that the change came somewhere in 1954. The big tank and heart tail lights were still on some models registred in 1954. Will try to post some photo's

My thinking was that the heart tail lights go with the older kind of doors and the big tank, but was not sure. Now for the hunting
