Wow! That is one very nice collection. The saying 'The more things change, the more they stay the same' comes to mind. Interesting to note the variations of the tail lights and rear decklids. If you look at a late model South African Beetle (like the 1600S), fitted with Rostyles, it is interesting to see that some of them left the factory (intentionally?) without a single exterior VW badge! There were air intake fins on the centre of the bonnet, where the badge was usually placed. Even the steering wheel had a Wolfsburg badge on, I think the only visible VW badges were on the rubbers of the pedals!!
Thanx pine! Jip, would have been nice if it had the badge.
You don't perhaps know of any literature / blabla... books on ..
1) How the beetles changed over the years
2) Any nice book on beetles? Can't remember the website. It views beetles dated from 1938 up to now.. Saw a book with the same photos at a neighbours'. Wrote down the ISBN, but exclusive books could not help. Any ideas?
Nice Cars Marg!
It's nice to see them together too then you can see the differences in the years... For books you can click on the banner add in the top from kalahari then I get a bit of commission
You have a nice collection there Marguerite! I especially like the '66.... I think you should keep the paint scheme as is.... that patina cant be bought! Maybe just a nice polish would do wonders and some chrome bits and pieces!! A really nice buy, and well worth all the wait!
