Mk1 Avant
Saw this early DKW/Auto Union station wagon in downtown Johannesburg yesterday, still in daily use. Just think, it is the great-grandfather of the current Avant and the Q7!

I know this one well. Bert Strubling from Rhein Motors has been servicing DKW's since forever! That blue wagon, or Universal to give it its correct name. has been a familiar sight in Marshall street for over 30 years - just gets more patina with the years. It is a 1958 model - 3 cyl 900cc.

Re: Mk1 Avant
Beautiful car!
I suppose that one could also call it a DKW Variant

Re: Mk1 Avant
For what it's worth, this 2-door Auto Union/DKW has been standing for some time now next to the N12 on the Delmas turnoff (R50) in Mpumalanga. It seems to be at a dealer in earthmoving equipment, and there are also a few other secondhand cars for sale. Saw it on previous occasions too, although I only took this pic today. Dunno if it is worth anything but maybe a valuable source for someone looking for spares?
