My Split Screen Beauty!

Post by Pillayster »

Hey guys,

Many of you have read my intro to the forum and know that my passion lies in restoring this beauty! thought id lay some pics out for comments and inspiration!

i am still in the early stages here, just stripping down the bus. i never had an engine to take out but did have the gearbox. My plans are to strip her down clean and possibly have her blasted then primered and panels added to rusty areas (not too much rust)... that’s as far as i have though for now! Time is very precious and so is cash therefore things are slow but i want to be complete within a year!

i ahve lots of pics too share but i cant attach more that three (so the error message says) or they too big!

Glad to see you so eager to restore it. Watch for the blasting.Dont know much about bodywork but I read If done wrong it could strech and damage the panelsy. Dont know if you restored one before but I know the guys will be more than happy to help.

All the best

Cheers

I know! This is my dilemma i want the body to be nice and clean and i have spent time stripping her down to the bare minimums. I specifically want the undercarriage nice and clean so i can rubberise it. I have seen some bad rust this weekend, initially i was just concerned with the driver’s door and the panel under the drivers pedals.... now that i stripped off the hood lining i have noticed alot of rust under the roof seems inside!

what do i do from here! advice please.... sandblast / dont sandblast?

Well. I wish I could help. Best speak to the guys doing restoreing. Jan from Lada Centurion is doing mine. He imports spares often as well and is always looking for others to buy with him as it would be cheaper to get a container shipped.

He is more than willing to help. His no is 0829057711.

Cheers
