I agree with Calooker. Don't mess with the carb until you are certain you have eliminated all other possibilities.
Most similar problems relate in some way to the ignition: either tuning or faulty condensor or coil in most cases.

Okay so after doing the everything I said I would she is running but there is a bit of delay when swinging before she ignites. Idling is soft 1st then goes loud and runs perfectly afterwards. But the other thing is there is a bit of a hissing sound coming from somewhere, so I gather she must have a vacum leak somewhere.
Could the delay in ignition be incorrect mixture of air & fuel?

Air sucking in, ANYWHERE, except the carb is not good news.
Find those leaks, and the engine will run smooth.

Check the points gap it must be 0,4mm, should start nicely after that.

The points gap determines dwell angle, and is just a rough measure. To be sure, one needs to use a dwell meter.
