Re: Our 1st VW Project
So as I have read on here, my flywheel might not be the correct one for the gearbox, could somebody please confirm this and then maybe tell me what to do.
On the flywheel/clutch assembly it says: Suchs Typ M 200, and the gearbox is a split type gearbox.
The gearbox measures +-280mm inside diameter, and the flywheel assembly measures +-280mm outside diameter (on ring gear teeth as outer most part).

Re: Our 1st VW Project
From what I read you need just what I got
I also just bought a bug just for the motor for the new bug to replace the frous stolen one
ANd when I took the motor out there was a 6volt fly wheel on with a 180mm clutch and ring type pressure plate that will workin that split box just mooi
Will swop the 6v f/wheel setup for that 12Volt one you got there just you will need to get a 6Volt starter for the flywheel cos the teeth are different than 12v and I just took out the motor from the other bug and sold it on already
Just remember when replacing the flywheel the endfloat needs to be re checked with what ever flywheel you are going to use do not just chuck 3 shimms in and bopa it vas as some guys will tell you

Re: Our 1st VW Project
Cool, well i know there is a starter motor stuck on the gearbox at the moment guess it's a 6V one, but as I posted under advice, i'm wondering if it wouldn't be better to just get a whole new/old/recon 1600 gearbox. Any advice. And maybe price for something like that?
But will keep that f/wheel setup inmind that you got there. Thanks Bugger.
Oh one more thing, the endfloat??

Well as said in the other post how ariginal do you want to goKorn005 wrote:Cool, well i know there is a starter motor stuck on the gearbox at the moment guess it's a 6V one, but as I posted under advice, i'm wondering if it wouldn't be better to just get a whole new/old/recon 1600 gearbox. I could sell you a 2nd hand box(no warrantee)for a corr and then can strip it recon it nice and got everything else you need to perform the Lung transplant
The pricing depends on what box Ratios you want certain transmissions are more scarce than others
a nice old type1600 box will be nice for that motor
Endfloat is the movement that the crank has in the block can call it the motors thrust
Take the crank puly and push and pull on it and feel if it has alot of play if so not good if not GOOD but this the propper way to set up is with a a dial guage
