My Sunday Feeling

Post by Slartibartfast »

I have been working on this car for some time now.
It is destined to be used on Sundays only. (might be heavy on fuel for commuting)
I have more photos

Eben,
Aircooled all the way with big oil cooler and fan, drysump tank holding about 5 lit of oil. I won't be taking long trips (+- 400m at a time :) )
Body should be going back on soon.

Yip, drag-runs you can get away with no cooling. I have seen at some Bug shows where people take off fanbelts just for the run down the strip, to scrape that last horsepower or two out of the motor....

That is one nice motor you are building there.

I once went to a Speedway race in Bloemfontein (those bikes with no gears, nor brakes, racing around an oval track skidding around the corners). Inbetween races, the bikes in the pits had electric fans blowing over the cylinder heads to cool them down. I'm not into bikes, but I fell in love with the smell of methanol exhaust fumes :oops:

What is the displacement of this engine :shock:

Looks like it's going to be an absolute monster :hangloose:

Pine, saw my first "speedway" races in 1972 on my first visit back home. I have been hooked ever since. But have never owned a bike or been interested in bikes until my son and his mates reached the bike riding age.

Sorry,
I've been busy this week. Have to make some income as well! :wink:
The engine is based on new EMPI "bubble" aluminum case.
Bore = 94 mm
Stroke = 86 mm
CR around 9:1
We will have to use methanol fuel
Gotech Pro-X fuel injection
1600 cc injectors
EMPI h-beam conrods
Lots of custom parts.
I assembled the short block some time ago and don't remember all the specs (wrote it down somewhere)

I will try and post more pics as we progress
So long, and thanks for all the fish.
