Very nice, a Kestrel I think. Funny enough - PE used to be the town with the most of those buggies I've ever seen, many people 'weather proofing' them with the doors and using them as daily transport in the week, and weekend transport for fishing trips. Valli Moosa put an end to it with the banning of all vehicles from beaches...

The reasons for banning vehicles are numerous, and I actually agree with many of them, mostly out of an environmental/conservation perspective. Reckless driving causes severe damage to plant growth, as well as animals that depend on the shore for survival - birds, sea-turtles you name it.

Alcohol-induced reckless driving also used to be quite common where vehicles were allowed on beaches, and there were several incidents were children were hit and killed or badly injured on beaches by vehicles - totally unacceptable.

I think the only vehicles allowed on beaches these days are the National Sea Rescue Institute, the Sharks Board and the SAPS. There has also been a change in the law, allowing physically disabled people to use their vehicles, but only to get access to the shore, after a permit has been acquired by the authorities http://www.environment.gov.za/Services/ ... sabled.pdf

Many years ago 4wd vehicles were scarce. Few vehicles could actually drive on the beach without getting stuck in the sand.

Then 4x4's became popular, with every rich Tom, Dick and Harry having one.
Think there were just too many 4x4's on the beaches,it was not a public road,so drunk people and 6 year old children could legally drive there. Causing trouble.

Sad that this made that responsible people are not allowed to drive their buggies there any more.
Staying Aircooled is so much nicer.
Do'nt assume anything- (While doing fault-finding).

That sounds fairly reasonable, but should you be interested in buying, first check the chassis carefully for any rust
