Still sweating through the flu, but hey, work to be done. Today was the first time i actually got that "This is going to be cool" feeling!! Nice to finally get there. Hence the need to see the car with goodies on  not that i should be rushing or anything!! But hey, it makes a nice difference. My windscreen and co is on the way in 2 weeks, and the side trim is on order. Inner door handles have been fitted, (Hooked them up from Dave R....and he still waits patiently for the motor)

So far I'm happy. Sad that the body is so old....., stress cracks here and there etc. I've learnt my lesson. Looks good, just not perfect

P.S. the missus forced me to add the hubcap and ring....

Nice! You and FFF are building speedsters that rival the ones that the overseas guys build

All you guys who build these awesome works of art really give us the inspiration to carry on working on our not-so works of art

Progress is slow!! Fitting body parts etc. takes 10 times as long as stripping, kinda like making children. :) BOnnet is fitted and closes, just needs the rubbers. Door handles on, both interior and exterior. Spent the evening sorting out the wiring for the rear light. Now just to rewire the engine compartment. Front bumper brackets made up, now just to fit. Rear will go on as soon as the engine is out and in again. Interior needs to go away first thing in the new year. all in all, slow, but getting there. Will post pics as soon as possible.

Ok, so i dont enjoy ranting, but i'm even willing to use my own thread for this!!

Bottom line, i bought the windscreen which cracked after just 2 days.....tension in the frame and all that!! (Yes..... i will correct)
Luckily, i have the part number now, so i can go straight to the source and get it cheaper ....whoohoo!! So the call.......eh, we don't manufacture that type of windscreen????? Strange i say, this is yours, has your part number, and was made in October last year????? hhmmmm....let me check........

One week later, after phoning everyone i can find at NAG, i get hold of one guy who seems to know what he's doing!! Sure he says...let him chase up and get me a price. So i phone some other guy today and ask him for the price.......wait for it,( first question....is this an insurance quote, then ... sure he says .....R3000 !!!!!! (Rants...throws toys....and gets the price reduced to R2700...still more than double what i paid for the first one!!) ROFL....insane!! Start phoning the world again and get hold of the guy that was supposed to phone me back!! Sure he says, i've ordered 2 for you, just in case one breaks en route....(very nice of him)....then i ask him the price.....wait for it R550 excl!! how does anyone do good business in this place? it seems every company has 2 or 3 guys that know whats going on, the rest....no clue!! Eish......

RIght then....while most would think i was dead, i'm only partially!! Only kidding, with work, home, new pc, needless to say, things are a bit stupid!!

As such, working on the car has taken a back seat....for now!! I've done a couple of odds and ends, but i really need to get off my @r$e here!!

Rui kindly brought in 2 set of beetle over-riders for me, only problem, they needed a bit of work to fit.......call on the best tool i've bought.....la dremel!! Finally got the profiles right and with lots of trimming, the front bumper has finally been fitted, over-riders and all. Scary thing is the number of fittings i have to make up to get it there. Special mounts etc.. was fun though and the end product looks really cool if i dont sy so myself!!

Image

The back got the same treatment!! If it looks a bit high at the back, engine is out and will be dropped at Dave in the next couple of days. It finally found itself into the back of the Isuzu!!

Image

And looking pretty cool from the front! I finally got my new windscreens, one of which has now been fitted!! (2 days and no cracks :hangloose: )

Image

Also found a guy locally that can sort out my fron rims for me. Interior is waiting on a quote, albeit they're taking there time.....best i call them again. So all in all, things are looking better. Hopefully i'll get some time to get everything sorted sooner than later. i'll d my best to pop in more :)
