Well, I have ordered the conversion kit from Rui. Will only get it next weekend, which means that the engine is going to go into the car sometime during the last week of January.

Our auto electrician checked out the butchered wiring last night, we (or rather he  ) will start with the wiring on Saturday.

I also have to sort out the ignition switch and get the plugs and harness for the column. It's all these small things that take up time :(

I'm really need to get this car running so that I can start work on the white Fasty - It's been sitting for a while now....

Blitz. If I can make a suggestion. If you intend building this car nicely and keeping it for yourself. (not too build and sell again). Make a wiring loom from scratch yourself. It is really not that difficult. Then you can incorporate all your new electronic items into it. It will be sooo much nicer like that

That makes sense - In any case this car is going to be getting an EFI conversion sometime this year......

You can buy wire per meter at most shops. Yes it might cost a lot, but you won't regret it.

The problem with old cars are that too many itching fingers have been through them. (Dramatisation) :) )So you may find that one wire is joined five times from the fuse box to the engine with four different colours. All not soldered and just taped up. Then driving back at 1am from a jol she decides to stop next to the road in a crappy location due to these.

You have accurately described the wiring in my car :zhelp:

Will take some pictures to show what I am talking about :)

I found the best way of marking the wires is to use clear heatshrink with a printed label underneith. Looks really professional and will last for ages. You can also make a sticker for the fuse box so you can remember which fuse is used for what.

Hey dubster, I see that you are in PTA now. We should meet up sometime :P

Did you make up your own wiring harness or use a normal modified VW one?
