HI there everybody, firstly a big thanks to everyone for the words of encouragement with the DC Bus. 
Dutch, sorry that I missed you at Berg Motors the other day. Henry said I missed you by a few minutes... seems like all the good guys rocked up there this week. He told me you and Tom? saw us In Hermanus on Sunday. Another guy that visited the workshop on Wednesday was a guy called Henri, a motoring jounalist for the Cape Argus who also saw us there, and also a Bus mad fanatic....

Lowlight / Fig the load bed plans for now are as follows:
We know of someone in Montague Gardens that can replicate the load bed, but will definitely PM you Fig for Paul Cochranes contact!
Once the bed has been completed and welded into place, I would like to finish it off with alternating hardwood slats, and steel strips countersunk onto the slats... just to ensure that the slats dont take too much abuse. and to help in sliding parts onto load bed.... added a pic of what I want along with the hinged lids concealing access to the engine as well as storage boxes on the side.... what do you okes think?
Today, Goblin graciously donated a front bumper to the project and Henry found a set of bus rims with the flat tops or steps on them.... added a pic... me thinks they would look sweet with a set of white walls!
Tonight I reconditioned a 90 MPH speedo and just need to add new left and right indicator green gels as well as the white and red oil light and genny light gels... the clock is an Aug 65, effectively making it a 66 model clock, but I guess it is close enough for me... tomorrow night, I will tackle 2 round bus fuel guages... I have a choice of a 65 German VDO as well as a Brazilian 74 fleetline... reason for mentioning it is that I wanna try to take off the good brazilian chrome bezel
and use it on the German VDO....
Will show post pics of the recond guages ASAP...
I will be leaving work at 4 tomorrow and put in a few hours...

I DID DONATE A BUMPER? you must have been dreaming! lol, i went to henry last night and the bus doesnt look that bad. henry and boetie done a great job cleaning it so far,i would love to see what you have done with the clocks. i see there is a couple of other things you need. pm me and we can chat.

Hi guys
Some progress on our 65 Ratty DC project:
This week, we completely removed the front suspension, and matter of factly Dirk checked the brake set up. Remarkably we found that everything was still intact, fully greased and lubed the drums were still brand new and undamaged. They will be reused without the necessity of having it skimmed. The brake cylinders were still 100%, and the springs attached, the adjusters turned without any hassles... basically even the brake shoes were new except for a little uneven wear! The suspension came off without hassles bar one bolt that was slipping..
The same went for the rear...axles came off without a glitch, the gearbox could still select, and even had a reverse light switch fitted as in the pics... after having been cleaned, Dirk immeditely set about stripping the reduction boxes and overhauling them. Once painted, they would be refitted and painted and set on a shelf......
The front and rear suspensions were then cleaned of kg's of gunk and dried mud, the same went for the gearbox... thereafter they were all cleaned and now ready for sandblasting and repainting....
Also, I attached a pic of the set of bus rims Henry acquired, and I think it will look sweet, especially after a matching set of Firestone bus tyres were fitted to them...
