I know the feeling hapened to me on my driveway too. To add insult to injury I got a vapour lock, it wouldn't turn over.
My driveway is some 40m long and tried turning it over by letting it roll down my driveway in reverse, initially the wheels locked up twice but as it got to theottom of the driveway, it turned over, and a huge cloud of black smoke, when I drained the oil ther was about 4,5L in the sump of a oil fuel mixture, it had been siting at the top of my driveway for a morning.
Just this weekend Thomas learnt the same lesson on my driveway with fuel leaking all over his engine. no clamp on the one pipe

Thanks VWCrazy, she's with my in laws though. Don't think she'll be running into any problems.

Thanks Calooker, I had the same thing with her not wanting to start. Didn't understand why, but I do recall the dull thud sound when the starter tried to turn the motor though.

this is an age old problem.......and myself and my old man have pondered how for many years.

coz reason tells us, once the car is off-the fuel pump isnt pumping. so the petrol must gravity feed passed the pump.
but then theres the "float and needle"......if this is set right, petrol shouldnt pass.
but then i thought about it carefully.....if the car is parked nose up, the float would actually lower(instead of raise), thus
not closing off the "needle", and allowing petrol to pass.

does this make sense to anyone else???

does this problem occur with after market carbs i.e: webers or dellortos???
