It looks like the ifd/ duel carb mod might improve performance and fuel consumption. (mine is 7.5 km/l in city or 8.2 km/l highway)beetlefanatic wrote:My 36 IDFs have a vacuum connection on the left hand carb and I'm using the standard dissy. It allows you to keep running a vacuum-and-centrifugal advance dizzie which is better than only centrifugal. Especially in a light car like a buggy where any slight hoes-poep-of-skinder is translated into a huge jerk or flat spot.Pine wrote:To the best of my knowledge Dellorto 36DRLA's are the same as IDF's.
Would it money well spend it you do that mod on a split bus? or just a waste of money?

Re: Dual IDF's???
It will save you money on long distances, but might also free up some power which you will happily use. then the sound changes and I love it, so sometimes you will put your foot down just to listen. In the end it doesnt save you any fuel. (my opinion).louisvr45 wrote: It looks like the ifd/ duel carb mod might improve performance and fuel consumption. but lets say it does.... lets say it saves you 1 liter per 100km and it cost you R2000 to install and dyno (unlikely to be that cheap). At R8 per liter of petrol.... You need to save 250 liters to pay it off, so thats 25000 km before you start saving money. So not entirely a bad idea if you have a single carb setup. If you already have twin carbs, get the sorted and you will get close to the same economy.
