It really does not help to skimp on the quality of the parts you use. Cheap and nasty parts will end up costing you double.

Some progress at last. After almost a two month wait for the cylinder heads from CB they have finally arrived.

The cylinder heads are CB 044 mini wedge port with 42 / 38mm valves, opened for 94mm barrels and combustion chambers of 52cc. The combustion chamber size equates to 10,5:1 compression.

Last night we cleaned the combustion chambers and removed all the sharp edges.
The rockers are CB super race rockers 1.1:1 ratio.

The piston pins with ally buttons fit really nice in the barrels, so by this weekend we should be able to finish assembly and get her fired up.

We fired her up on Saturday, it sounds real nice and responsive. The oil pressure is impressive, when cold it reaches 3 bar under cranking conditions.
The carbs on this engine is EMPI 44IDF's... now either they are crap or full of crap , will take them off during the week to clean and try again.

More likely full of crap fitted a set earlier this year, I couldn't beleive what came out of them. I was warned before hand to clean them first, I did so, they ran Ok after some tinkering with the real cheap badly fitting linkage.

These have run before, but was standing for about a year at the coast. So maybe they just need a proper clean.

After cleaning the carbs properly it's running good now. After all this we decided to order a ultrasonic cleaner to make it easier in the future.

Cylinder heads have now been re torqued, valve clearances adjusted and dry sump pump installed. Now we wait for the crank pulleys and clutch then the engine can go into the speedster.

We received the crank and alternator pulleys yesterday from engineering. All looks good, but as normal nothing will simply bolt on. The clearances on the keyway was a little light and we needed to machine the outside oil groove as well for a proper fit.
And so this build has come to the final parts, customer should take delivery this weekend to install the engine.

Looks like you retained the stock style oil slinger on the crank pulley. I have found on a engine that revs fast and higher than 5000RPM the oil mist is going to make a mess of the engine compartment in short order, I get a sand seal fitted to prevent this from happening. My 50c

All my engines still run the oil slinger without any issues. If the engine case is damaged, then we go the sand seal route.
