Hi Rosco,..I hunted the ol interweb for anyone that did the Golf H/light conversion,..and low and behold found you on the forum,..just shows me this forum is the place to find "things? !
Anyway enough of the sugar coating !! Haans's light are the original 6v setup that is now 12V,......but still lights up like S. H. One T. !!
I believe the golf 7" light assembly works,....what needs to be modified where for this conversion ? No need to re-invent anything if it has been done before !!!🤔

If there are others out there,....please assist if you've gone through this lot on a ghia

Hi Haans,

Which KG do you have, if its build n a type 3 pan, then I would think it would be the same as the Type 3 cars like my Fastback.

The Fastback uses a Golf 1 semi sealed with backing plate which includes the setting and adjusting screws.

Image

If its not then the 7 " Bus light would work same as used to retrofit to the Bays head lights.

These are possibly the Ford H4 7" headlights but has no backing /setting plate, soyou would use the original KG plate.

Above new can be bought here https://airheadparts.com/vw-part/headli ... 1-941-041/

Please post photo of the headlight bucket, so we can see which replacement would fit.

Hope this helps.

Herman,.... thanks for response,... but I am a bit "deurmekaar" now?
Yes type 3 pan,.. included is the bucket ?

it seems that the current "assembly" hooks in at the bottom,.. and is kept in with the trimring at the top.
I have not stripped anything yet,. but this pic was taken after paint a while ago, it's too long ago can't remember!.

Somehow I need to fit something for the light assembly to be attached too. reason for all this questioning is to avoid purchasing,... only then to find out that it might not be worth it. !!! don't travel at night !!!

It looks as if your glass and reflector is mounted to the chrome ring such as some older beetles.

You would then remove the reflector and glass and mount the new semi sealed glass/reflector combo to the same place as the reflector.

BUT if you like your rounded glass then leave the old glass mounted to the ring but fit the semi sealed in place of the reflector using the mounting clips of

the reflector. Looking at your photo of the head light this option will work best.

Think that will work, its what I have done with the 52 Beetle and the Fleetline split bus.
