Howzit DD,
Your bus is looking awesome. Excellent paint choice. What colours are you doing the interior in?
I wish I could find a decent restorer in JHB........

Thanks everyone for the feedback....sharing my ups

and downs

is half the fun.
More good news

, just passed the bus and the underside has been fulled treated, front wheels painted and refitted so looking good for week after next return....hurray!!!
Colour on inside will be white painted with chocolate brown leather with a wood camping interior (yellowwood maybe) which I'm going to do myself.

thats absolutely awesome!!!what a paint job!!the 22k seems alot to the average joe soap, but holy crap it looks good, worth every cent.
hopefully a vehicle of that standard and quality will remain here, where it belongs, and not lost to the pommies.
damn the exchange rate!!

It's staying here.....I'm not selling it and the money that I've spent, no one would be interested anywhere in the world I promise.

Looking good dude. It's good that there are people spending that much money on legitimate restorations and not Ratting the Bus
Nice Dutch_Diver.......Very very nice!

So....latest update....AND IT'S ALL GOOD
Went past the bus yesterday and all the pop-outs are in, the rear window and the front windscreens are all in. The original wheels are all painted to match the pearl white top and the underside and wheel arches are all now completely treated and covered...
So what's left?
1) Fit the drivers and passengers sliding windows and frames,
2) Find and fit the rubbers for the cab doors,
3) Put all the switches and speedo back into the dash,
4) Fix the indicator stalk to the steering column,
5) Find and fix the horn to the centre of the steering wheel,
6) Few other little bits.......
7) Fit the VW Chrome badge on the front....(final item)
Then it's home to start on building the interior and getting everything re-upholstered but that's another stage in the story and I'll more this thread into the Projects section as I should have really done this one there in the first place....sorry.

So all feast your eyes....
I'm really excited...it's finally coming together...hope you enjoy the latest pictures.....
Front on....

Underneath all done....

Inside the cab needs a little work on gear stick, electrics, new gauges, handle, etc

Side on looks great with the new popouts fitted....

The back also all done....

Discuss on what's still to do....
I hope to drive out of the garage on Saturday if all goes to plan....we agreed not to put the VW badge on the front until last and then crack open the champagne!!!
Then it's straight onto the interior.....I found a place that can supply the French Rosewood that I want on the inside and hopefully going to find a good upholster in the next week unless anyone can recommend near Stellenbosch?
