Regulators don't like heat or vibration put it under the back seat where it should be

No original brackets for the coil, but also very close to the engine lid, so I fitted it into the only recess that it will fit snugly into, the mounting is perfect where it is.
The carbs are working fine, will have to set, with air correction jets, as it is running a bit rich, want to change the air correction from 160 to 175, not sure where I can find them, but still looking.

Thanks for the heads up Armand, as its my 1st transplant, I need to fit all 1st then move it around, then make it neat.....
As said above, did not have STD bracket, no holes were drilled or taped, as it was a 411 engine, and was also very close to the lid, so I fitted into the neat recess, fits nice, very happy with it, and runs cool as it takes the cooling from the fan...
The regulator is mounted there for the test run, is mounted on vibration and heat resistant pad, (see black under regulator) Now that the engine runs, the wiring has to be redone to a neat standard, the regulator can be extended, (wires were too short) to fit near battery. The wiring came with the engine, not made for type 3.

Thanks for the heads up, Rui, but as said, put it there as I had to get the wiring sorted out, as can be seen from all the long messy wiring.
As I am mixing, type 3 wiring with type 4 wiring, and type 4 motor in a type 3, all into a small area. Now that it is all sorted, the neatening can begin.
The regulator will move to the back seat, ones all wires are adjusted, but 1st , the TEST RUN..........

Anybody have 175 Air correction jets for me please

Decided that you know best, and that I should make a bigger effort. so I worked out how to make the coil work in its rightful place.

Made an angle drill thingyamabob, and drilled the hole on the mount bump. was hell but who cares, then tapped the hole 5 mm, had to grind the coil bracket down on the sides to fit into the slide end of mount, placed bolt with two fender washers, on newly taped mount point, and bolted down the coil bracket.

NOW I can also say that the coil is mounted in the "original place"

Not happy with the carbs, don't get me wrong, it runs well, but it is still running rich.
So I contacted Calooker, and sure enough he came through, as always.
Managed to get me 2 sets of service kits for my two sets of twin carb's.
Also got me a full set of new and next size jets, so now I can set up the carbs to run perfect.
Hope to have the parts in my grubby hands in the morning.
In the mean time I have started to clean up the wiring, made a wire rout and support.
Moved the voltage regulator to under the back seat.( thanks to all )
Will now RENEW both sets of carbs, tomorrow, test both on the engine, and store one set for the ........OOooops!!.. nearly let it slip........

Received the service kits today from Calooker, excellent service, thanks Rui..

Reworked all the carb's, and fitter & tested them in the car.

All working perfect, now I am happy.

Went about fitting the voltage regulator into the space under the back seat, and that is where my started.

With the wires extended, I could not get the bloody thing to work right, reduced the wires back to the original wire harnes length, and then it worked correctly.

So now I fitted it under the engine lid, to the body, out of the way, man am i glade that work right again.....

Having cleaned up the wiring, I started fitting the bus filter box into the Fastback.
the dust box had to be reduced in hight, so that it would fit into the engine compartment, with lid closed.

Now I can hear the two schools of thought shout loudly........

OR Why not back to standard....

Well I want to have it look near normal, and should the average Joe look at it, he would not know the engine is not correct and that the type 4 does not belong there.

Well the upholstery is next , after test drive..........

Well the "Road" test went well, no arrests, no tickets, no points off my licence, .... the car ??? oh sorry No the car went fine, all gears work, no pulling to the side, the brakes work, no rattles, so I am very happy with the result, so now I will work to get it going for George 2012

Best decision I made, fitting the type 4 2000lt to the Fastback,

As you say tons of torque, and best VW drive ever.

There is no better drive then the Fastback. Like a Cheap Rolls Royce.

Yup best drive ever, drives even better than a Porsche 356

Thank you , was a lot of hard work, but they will make a lot of otherwise bad looking cars excellent, and valuable. Will make sure there is ONE for you when you need it.....

very easy to install, and the three options, will make the fit, to each guys own taste.

Now if only I could find one for myself.. ................ .................
