Going to be at our offices in Bantry Bay most of the morning, hoping to get some time to myself, btu at the moment it's all a bit hectic. Worst case scenario, I'll leave the parts with our driver and organise with him to get it to you. I have your number though.

What carbs you looking at? I have a few sets of DRLA and type 4 2.0 carbs as well as two IDF's that are still useable. Why not go EFI?

Thanks a mil G!! Just keep me posted any which way and i'll try make a plan.

I'm still tempted on the EFi! i have manifold inserts, injectors, all i realy need is a throttle body etc. Cheaper option would be for single throttle body, but no decision. Go-tech Control unit is going to set me back about 2k, so it might even work out cheaper....decisions...decisions!!

I must say I'm very happy with the 1917cc SP single carb option on the DarkSide, it is governed threw the heads which gives me really good reliability and can still do 160-170kmph. Sorry RA but I think I nicked the twin's that DaveR has just before you got there.. But I think your getting my spare set of 94mm barrels.....

All good Vader!! My comments to Dave on the motor were very simple. Keep it clean, keep it torquey, keep it low reving and forget top end!!

I'm currently running a 32 - 34 progressive, which should suffice in the short term. All i want is nippy round town, with a comfortable 120 top end. Nothing more!! it's a bonus that the big bore has already been sorted, and the cam been done. As long as the basics are sorted, i can sort the carbs later. It should be good for around town and the occasional winelands cruise!!

the 94's with the counterweighted crank and a 110 cam will give you 120kmph at 3k rpm running to 170km/h at 4200rpm. The DarkSide with the single carbs in 4th wont go over 4200rpm BUT it is so much fun around town with great acceleration and good torque in the power band. Twin carbs will get me up to 5500rpm and a possible/hopeful 200km/h+...

Vader, are these speeds that you get measured off the speedo or is it actual (GPS) speed?

odd indeed! When i was using it, i could only manage 110 at 4200 revs????? That was running 94's. methinks something is amis in gonzalez!! and i'm running a standard 1600 box?

Some things to note....

1st..I have a clock marked to 230km/h but it is out by about 0.8 so when doing 210 on the clock it is closer to 170km/h.
2nd.. I have std OD beetle tyres 635mm at the back so what is your tire size?
3rd.. I think my box is an old 1600 with the short side shafts (as DaveR told me) but I have yet to get all the crap off to see what the numbers are...
4th.. the 170km/h was verified by a guy in a 3l Raider driving behind me, he was doing 160-170 on the N2 from Somerset Mall to the Winelands Ultra City where we both pulled to get something to eat. He said that I was pulling away from him and he couldn't catch me.

What size rims/tires are you running? Remember the smaller the OD the higher the rev's for less speed...

Kev

I'll post some pics of what you're getting this weekend. They're both still rough as hardly any trimming has yet been done and I have oversized them a bit for you as I'm lead to believe that not all speedy's are built the same..........still only requires minor trimming with a grinder if needed.

Give us an update bro, I know you can.........
