Thanx Pine :hangloose:

I do have the perspex wrap-around thingy-me-bobs, but apparently the traffic dept does not allow them onto cars anymore :bn:
It has to be glass and a certain height.

For the now, I will use them as a temporary arrangement and see how many fines I can sustain....haha

Okay, so most of the prepping is done so finally it's time for basecoat :hangloose:
Decided to rather save the clearcoat in case of any imperfections during basecoat.
Will rather watersand to an 1800grit before going with the clear.
She will be super-shiny once the clear is done --- no imperfections will be tolerated.

Will keep some more pics coming as and when the progress has been made.

Metallic basecoat can not be sanded in fact wiping it with a rag gives marks which will be seen once the clear is on

Hi Armand

You got me seriously worried now!
Luckily I've only just applied the mist-coat to the side and the front.
Can I still apply more basecoat and then go in directly(after flash-off times) with the clear?

Hi Rouxlois. I just bumped into your thread now. I nearly had a heart attack when I saw you were planning on sanding a metallic base coat. This is just not done. To answer your question. If you have already sanded the base coat you can re-spray more base over the sanded coat but you must spray the whole panel or you will be able to see the transition. Don't do too many layers of base because the clear coat actually has to 'seep' down into the base and set off the whole thing and it wont go all the way through with 20 coats of clear.
(I am secretly hoping that you have finished the spraying already and that it looks awesome!)

I actually also have one of these Porsche 718 Spyders which I used as the donor car for my Speedster. Since it is now missing a chassis I want to fabricate a space frame and move the engine to the middle since that is were it was on the original racing car. They are such beautiful cars and very underrated because so many of the replicas have just been slapped together (how you found your's originally). Anyway, gonna stop waffling now and leave you with these pictures I found on the internet a while back.

Thank you for the super-cool pics!!! Inspiring indeed!!!

Does anyone perhaps know where I can find hinges for the doors so that they open upwards (similar to the Lamborghini)?
Would like to customise the doors to open that way!
