Very interesting to see how the spares list grows as you start to work on the project.

I made a list before I started with the project, this include all the major spare parts that I thought I might need or that I would like to add to the car.

Not its all the little items, like a small grommet here and a bumper pad there.

Keeping track of all spares and keeping in budget is key I would say.

At least now its only the small items.

Last big cost will be the interior of the car.

So today we started the stripping, taking all the old paint off straight to bare metal.

Paint stripper, scrapper, wire brush and patience...

So look what I found after stripping all the paint off, has anyone see this before.

2 cracks on the left side and 1 crack on the right side of the body.

I will drill to stop the cracks as well as well the cracks up.

Hmmm wow a little obvious there hehehehe... Crack filler will not fix that at all.

A bit of an update, 10 lt of paint stripper latter, I still have to finish up the roof some of the interior. Need to get some more stripper.

I am very surprised as to how quickly some of the paint comes off as well as to how tough some of the paint is.

Good to see all the bare metal, not finding a lot of rust, some on the skirts on the rear where the fenders mount and a little on the front left corner where the pan meets the bod

Bit of an update.

Car is now fully paint freeeeeeeee :hangloose:

Now the prep to get some prep on the car begin. This is going to a nice job.

Before I can lay some primer I need to make sure that all the panels and doors ect fit nicely. And here is problem I need some assistance on... I need to replace the door hinge pins. Considering taking the doors to an engineering shop and have them press out the pins, drill the pin holes over sise and press new pins in. Any suggestions as to a place in Pretoria that might or can do this with out bending anything???

Also some final welding to be on the body to get rid of the cracks in previous pics.

Last job I will need assistance on is the cutting of the front beam and installation of "Drop adjusters" and here once again any recommendations.

The door pins are normally easy to take out if you soak them with Q20 and knock them out with an impact tool.

Just fit a pin punch into the impact machine, and it will start moving.

Here is a homemade tool. It works but I will change the 10mm bolt to a 8mm high strength bolt. Will also cut away where marked so it goes with an angle to the bottom to have a bigger clearance between the door.

I got my pins from Wolfsburg West with a reamer. 2nd oversize was better as 1st was still loose in the worn holes. I need to order more pins so shout if you don't have.

So, were are we currently.

Well Pan is getting on just fine. Will be doing some painting on the pan shortly.

Just need a last couple of small spares to arrive and then we will be going on full steam.

Every day life tends to intervene when we dont like it, but such is life.

Will post some pics again soon.
