I remember the mani's that you got off impi and those filter caps that you made. Any pics of that set-up lying around eben?

The worst part of rebuilding an old car is impatience, I haven't even started properly yet I am waiting for the day that she is ready to make some noise and scare some little children...

How long do I have to wait?!!

It's taken me four months just to get a few things done on my speedster and it'll no doubt take at least another 6 months before my new engine is in as well.........it all takes time..........did I forget to add that it's taken me 16 years to get my speedster???

Well, at this stage, we trying to get the car done within a year, finances and time pending

Plan goes something like this: Try to get all the body work and a respray done by end november...

Work a while and save for a motor and get it done by January

Interior and other trimmings done last...

Let me say it here, I'm a student working full time and studying part time to pay for the studies and car , so somewhere in all of this I have to find time and discipline to study

Might I suggest an alteration to that option?

Get the motor first and get it & the rest of the car up and running 100% mechanically. Then strip it, do the body work and then put it all back together, that way, what you have on it will be sorted already and you won't have to worry about damaging paint afterwards.

The body has to come off the chassis anyway, so we'll see how it goes...

This is a pic of the first filters I ran...
They were modified Weber(Redline) DCOE units but of course you get them for IDF/DRLA... They are really crappy quality though and I think K&N make better units of the same height.

I needed to do a bit of filing on the carbs for the baseplate to fit properly.

I'll get my brother to take some pictures of the cold air system that I made, next time he gets around there....

What do you think about solex40PII-4 carburators with lolette manifolds ? Is it worthwhile buying to sit on the shelve for now?

Those are apparently the best for street cars.

I got to agree with flatfourfan I did what you are planning AND STILL DONT HAVE THE MOTOR I WANT 15yr later...and the darkside has to go for another respray now!!! So my advice would be to get the monster motor you want in the back and then drive a rat for a while till you can afford the respray and interior. Or else you'll have a great looking car that gives you a boner every time you look at it but leaves you limp cause you cant drive it!!! It's soul destroying and leads to more frustration in the end!!!!! Plus while you getting the body done you can transplant the motor into something else and STILL have fun with it!!!
