Very nice Pine! I like the way you have had the trailing arms powdercoated in a different colour. Looks very nice indeed. This buggy will be up and running in no time indeed, judging by the way work is progressing

Re: Pine's Buggy (Hot Wheels 2?) thread
Thanks, guys
The backing plates were powder coated in Edenvale, but then I found a cheaper company in Vulcania (near Brakpan) who did the red trailing arms for me. The chassis will be powder coated in Klerksdorp.

Re: Pine's Buggy (Hot Wheels 2?) thread
Sorry for the hijack, but it's IRS related

Do the Type 3 IRS chassis' not have the frame horns for the gearbox? Is the gearbox only supported by the front nosecone? Would it be possible to weld in the frame for the manual gearbox (As found on a swingaxle t3)?

Re: Pine's Buggy (Hot Wheels 2?) thread
No frame horns on the auto Type 3 (see TheSamba pic below). The engine has a crossmember, so the gearbox actually 'hangs' on the engine, and you need to support the gearbox with a jack stand when removing the engine. Exactly the same as a >'72 Bay Bus. On the Type 4 (411/412 car, that is), the gearbox has a bracket in front of the starter, so the gearbox 'hangs' on the body. Not sure about the welding question, but be nice to IMPI and he might just tell you how he converted an auto Type 3 Fasty to manual for his wife many years ago

Re: Pine's Buggy (Hot Wheels 2?) thread
As very often happens, the unexpected appearance of a youngster in your life really kinda mess things around. Let me introduce to you the latest addition to the family:

Shall we call her HW 0.5?
(Her appearance unfortunately slowed the HW2 progress down with a few weeks
)
Anyway, there once was a Jack Russel who chased a truck. And one day he caught it, and didn't know what to do with it. That Jack Russel is named Pine
