Aircooled VW South Africa

Sprayon does an ultra high temperature (U.H.T) paint, this stuff sticks to anything, even the exhaust manifold on my 924 Porsche. Its amazing paint. though it comes in at R94 a can which is a bit much. available in Red, Blue, Black, White, Silver, Gun metal and some other colour. i think it would be ideal for the calipers. I'm going to try it. Picked silver for my calipers but the gun metal on my exhaust is a really nice colour as well. Decided to avoid the Red because it wont match the look of my car...

Ok, the paint seems to work a treat so far, never expected problems there. but i did run into a slight problem, the adapters did push my wheels out significantly and they have touched my fender while going over a bump it seems, hence paint loss is there a way to stop them short of the fender arch? or even better, bring them inside again? can i extend the bump stop to limit their travel to avoid them hitting my fender?

or must i limit my enthusiasm and drive over bumps slowly from now?

my advise that not many would agree with is take it to someone who can shorten the beam by a few centimetres on each side thise will pull the beam in and your fenders will be safe *just remember a FEW centimetres just to clear the fender other wise you gonna take half an hour to take a corner*

Speak to Bugger his number is everywhere on the forum maybe he can do it for you (it never hurts to ask)

Its prob easier and cheaper to put discs on the car.
Maybe machine a few mm off the inside of the rim mounting hub to move the tyre into the wheel arch

I've got the disc kit from Rui and it was so simple to install and seems to work perfectly. i might be able to get 10 mm if get the adapters reworked or remade. but that still leaves me with a bit out. i did also think of getting the beam shortened slightly. but cool, i will look into it all... any chance changing the bump stop might be able to limit the travel? i'm sure i can get 2 mix polyU to make up a new one of required?

Rui, I've been considering this conversion for my Thing, however I'm not too sure about the fitting. Someone mentioned to me that with King Pins/Link Pins setup you can't do it, or is it the other way around. Generally I'm going need alot of help from the greater VW fan club regarding my restoration project as I'm not so clued up.

I installed disk brakes on my king/link pin suspension buggy yesterday - no problem

i also got the conversion kit from rui other parts I got from goldwagen and volksapres. working well except sometimes I have some issues with the rear (it comes and goes). when going over a bump or a very tight corner e.g. roundabout. back left tends to hook a little, cant find the problem. but otherwise the disks are great,
