It is not just the porn avatars which are disturbing.
I work for an international Christian organisation - which explains why I have to drive up Townbush Rd and onto one of the longest driveways in town, Nonsuch Rd - whereby I rub shoulders with respectable folk from various parts of this world. I so would love to introduce many of the young budding ac enthusiast to this site, however I just can hear the response I will get from some of these folk as they see avatars such as buggyfan’s “middle finger masked smoker”! I mean, such ought not to be allowed either.
How do I explain such profanity as my boss walks in to inform me of the good news that 120 people just committed their lives to the Lord in Monrovia?

Let us not just look at porn, but other avatars which might be offensive to the conservative majority (or is it the minority?).

And hloni I have to dissagree with you there!thats kinda a total slap in the face, if you work for an organisation that would frown upon the posted items, don't view the site during work hours, simple! Or if you have too, disable images on your browser, the argument that innocent minds will be barraged by images unbecoming of their lil minds. Well get used to it, its the INTERNET! Its full of unsightly and crass things! There's no way to avoid it, I'm sure the t&c of the site said something about not viewing the site in countries or places that it may be wrong to do so. And I would guess work is one of them.. So correct me if I'm wrong but avatars if not directly pornographic is not arguable, seeing as you work in a religious business, wouldn't the avatar of a weed leaf or even Hitlers revenge signature? Freedom of speech and expression within reason. So I'm all for buggyfans new avatar, its an in your face proclamation of GET OVER IT.
This isn't a personal attack, just my Personal view. I'm probably outta line, but like I said, its the internet, take nothing to heart and you won't be offended.

It never ceases to amaze me as to how contextual ‘freedom of speech’ be. In one thread, one was almost castrated (if only) about a statement one made, however suddenly ‘freedom of speech’ is now infringed upon?!

The issue at hand is not WHAT but WHERE. Some of us here on the forums do not appreciate going into the offered/parts/technical sections and being at. If titties is what wanted to see, one is more than welcome to go to the Seat Cover section for such – whether it be at my desk at work, or in the privacy of my room at home. Some amongst us on the forum would rather not see such images.

Some of you are missing the point.

This site was created to cater for VW owners (Bugs, Busses etc) in South Africa. As the site evolved, the MINORITY that becames the most frequent posters asked/demanded a Seat Cover section. And honestly, that is where it all went wrong. Because no definite rules were set for the seat cover section. That is down to the owner of the website and/or moderators.

It is down to management to sort out this dispute. Is this a website for VW Owners with the same interests? If so, it can only be cars. As simple as that. Not everyone enjoys porn. That is obvious by now. Another VW website/forum that I frequent, does not allow anyof these "grey topics", it is in the Terms that every user agrees to. The site is not at all boring. People still have fun and enjoy joking with each other and take the piss out of projects that takes so long to complete, but at least there is harmony. One can open that website with certainty that you wont find yourself in hot water with your boss. Those who step out of line with the Terms, gets warned and if they dont listen, kicked out. And this has got nothing ot do with becoming a "nanny state". Dont mix what the government forces you to do(censorship, or whatever you want to call it) with what goes on on this forum.

The subject of wether or not you are supposed to be looking at websites at work has got nothing to do with anything. It is what is allowed on the forum that is up for discussion/dispute, not where you browse the site. I dont want my 6 y/o daugther walk past behind me while I am on the couch when I open a thread and all I have is tits and smut on the monitor! And dont tell me to tell my daughter when and where she can go about her things in the house that we SHARE. And yes, sometimes kids seem to be stealth, you dont hear/see them before they are almost right next to you.

So, Eben. The ball is in your court. What are you going to do about this issue? It is up to the owner to decide what goes on in his house. VW-only related or not?
