Aircooled VW South Africa

Well after making a stuff up of the stainlees steel mesh that I had I decided to go with the original mesh that I that I made.
Now all I need to do is fasten them to the body, although I think that I cut the one a wee bit to small so I may have to make another one.

Those grills form a major focal point on the car once you are done. I would suggest that you really take your time to get them fitting and looking good.

Sorry to say those grills spoil the car. They need to be a much finer mesh, pref S Steel, and evenly cut. The surround framework must also mount properly.

Thanks for the input, I unfortunatley have to agree with you the grills do not fit the car
I realised that when I sat behind the car staring at them for awhile

I suppose I will have to continue looking for something that looks better.

So what's happening here?

Ahhhh nothing at the moment
I have been busy with the house and garden (bain of my life) cutting down rat infested boganvillias
But I did manage to set the gap for the head lights so as not to use the FG moulds that I made.
I will send pics later.

That is the nature of these projects. One should accept that there are times when other tasks are going to need attention and there are going to be times when you simply don't feel like doing something on the car. The important thing is that it should be a pleasure doing the build which means that one should allow yourself time to do nothing when you don't feel like doing anything to the car. You do your best work when you are enthusiastic about the project. Slowly but surely you are getting there.

Looking at the tail lights... i would try to find lenses for all 4 lights that have the same shape.

I do agree with you but if I had my way I would work on it constantly as I love doing it and enjoy it emensly.

Again yes I agree, although the stop lights are good quality (land rover spec I am told) but the indicators are el cheapos, just fitted for the purpose of getting the wireing sorted.

Well not much has happened on the project in a while
Although I have started making the "frame/ stabilizers" that will hold the clam shell in place.
Have also started collecting and marking out the positions of the gauges on the dash.

I am trying to finish spraying a canopy for a friend and this is in the garage that I want to park the spyder in so that I can work i relative warmth.
