Argento Volpe, My RSK 718

Post by 64 Notchback »

Well this is looong overdue seem as though I have had this project for almost a year now
(I have to ask Riekert to post the pics for me)

Anyway it is a RSK 718 that was offered on this forum awhile agoand I subsequintly swopped for a beach buggy, it was an unmolested kit, eg no holes drilled for the lights, gauges or anything.

After respraying the pan, gearbox and front suspension in the colours that I wanted.

I will comment on the progress as and when Riekert can post the pics.

Enjoy and please feel free to comment and critisize.

The colour that I intend to paint is a twist on the traditional silver but only a sparkle silver

Ok so let me give abit more info on the pics.

Pics 3 and 5
This is how the vehicle looked when I received it, still in the grey primer that the factory sprays them.

Pics 1, 6 and 7
Work started on the pan as I did not like the colour that it had been sprayed so I redone it in Royal Blue and odenil green, it did not have to be shortened and the shock towers had already been shortened.
I did however have to redo the braking system as it looked like the vehicle had stood for a long time.

Pic 2
I started to fit the front and rear lights so holes had to be cut for the fitting of them.

Pics 4 and 8
After I received the motor back from a buddy that had put it together for me I fitted it to see what the exhaust system that I had lying around would look like as well as whether the idea that I have for the fitting of clam shell would work.

That is all for now more to follow soon.

Thanks for looking

Good things come to those that wait but do something whilst waiting! I like your name but would suggest something in the line of Argentum Volaticus (Winged Silver) or Calamus Argenti (Arrow of silver)

Yeah I know that saying all to well

The name Argento Volpe loosely translates to Silver Fox
That was the one that I liked to most

Thanks again Riekert

The pics above are of when I sanded down the front section and the clam shell as they had been standing outside for awhile.
I have not sprayed the "cockpit" area as it is not a smooth finish and I am thinking of making it gloss black.

This is definitely the exact same body as mine. Remember to enjoy the process of the build. If you feel g@tvol then leave it for a week or two. That is the nature of the game. If you do not make some kind of mechanism to move the clamshell back before swinging it up then I really cannot see how you are going to open it with the hinges at the front. the clamshell wraps around the engine at the back.
