Looks pretty damn good Pine. I have always wondered how well that carb setup works. Do you have the 36DCDs or 28/36DCDs ?

Looking good! Is the ceramic coating for looks only? Or are there other benefits in ceramic coating the exhaust?
If it's too low, you're too old

Re: Hot Wheels 2 - Pine's new Buggy build thread
it helps reduce the heat radiated out of the exhaust pipe and it also makes the exh live a little longer by reducing corrosion

Thanks Tony, they are 2 x Weber 36DCD7's, with the manifolds merging from the two pistons into one per side. So on the first stage of throttle opening, both cylinder heads get fuel through one butterfly per side, and with a wider opening, the second stage butterflies open on both sides. You will see that they are not a mirror image of each other, the throttle pulls to the right on both of them. It has a simple Type 3 swivel in the centre, with a small 'ball' joint to maneuver the angle when the accelerator is pressed and the cable pulls from the front. Extremely simply, yet working fine! I have no idea of performance, or consumption at this stage, but they will eventually be replaced by the 2 x 36 DLRA's...Tony Z wrote:Looks pretty damn good Pine. Thanks Blitz, I did it primarily for the looks (the 4-into-1 was a lucky R 100 find at Piston Ring) but according to http://www.powerkote.co.za/ it has the following benefits...Blitzkrieg wrote:Looking good! Range & Features
Powerkote ceramic coatings are designed for use on any ferrous or non-ferrous metal and include a comprehensive range to suit different applications, varying from thermal barrier coatings , thermal dispersant coatings , dry film lubricant coatings , and corrosion resistant coatings.
Powerkote's ceramic coatings are capable of handling extreme conditions, as well as provide excellent chemical and corrosion resistance. Thermal shock tests show that these coatings can endure a thermal shock between 185 degrees C to + 2 000 degrees C and todate are the only coating of its kind that can withstand the temperatures of an internal combustion engine.
Powerkote also has an extensive range of engine coatings, which are products from Techline Inc, USA and include ceramic lubricants ; two dry film lubricants ; high load durable lubricants; powercoat lubricants; thermal dispersants; lubricated thermal barriers; and high heat ID coatings.
Differentiators
Differentiators of Powerkote ceramic coatings compared to other products include good flexibility due to microfilm coverage; highest rate of adhesion to withstand extreme thermal shock; high impact resistance and ease of application.
PowerKote has a large range of products and will advise you on the right coating for the application.
Industries
Powerkote's range of ceramic coatings is used to treat metal parts or components across a broad range of applications and industries, including aerospace, automotive, harbours, mining, petro-chemical, paper and pulp, power generation, plants, shipping, timber and transport, to name a few. In fact, any application where corrosion, heat and friction can result in wear and tear.
