Perhaps its just an earth strap or something simple. Are you going to register the vehicle for road use ? What gearbox are you using?
All coming together now !
Thanks Paul.
There is not the usual earth strap between the frame horns but there is a cable bolted to one of the "towers" where the body would normally bolt on under the rear fender and this cable is bolted on the stud that holds the starter motor, this should not be the problem as the motor started before i began stripping it.
Yes I am hoping to be able to get it on the road again as it was originally used on the road.
To be honest I have not even looked at the gearbox but I assume that it is fine, at least I know that I have gears after fitting the motor I put it into gear and tried to push the vehicle and the wheels "locked"

Cool ! No I was just wondering if you had a split bus box in there, but looking at the pics I don't see reductions boxes.
Cheers

Time for a small update.
Took the Rail to Clive at Beetle Engineering this morning for the rest of the work that i could not get to : get it running; sort out the brakes and master cylinder and also the electrical issues.
Should have it back within 2 weeks.
And in my haste to get it there i forgot to take pics

Got the Rail back yesterday
but unfortunately could not take it for a spin around the block as it was parked in and anyway the battery is poked so I connected the jumper cables and started it up.
so now just have to wait for the weekend to take it out and play.
